Joint Rule 8: This rule is created to address fund-raising social events in Dane
County during floorperiods and special and extraordinary sessions.

AJR17, s. 1 4Section 1. Joint rule 8 is created to read:
AJR17,1,12 5Joint Rule 8. Campaign committee activity. (1) A member may not
6schedule, hold, attend, or contribute money for or at; or authorize a legislative
7campaign committee, as defined in section 11.01 of the statutes, to schedule, hold,
8attend, or contribute money for or at; and a member may not schedule, hold, attend,
9or contribute money for or at; or authorize the member's personal campaign
10committee, as defined in section 11.01 of the statutes, to schedule, hold, attend, or
11contribute money for or at; a fund-raising social event in Dane County during a
12floorperiod of the legislature or during a special or extraordinary session.

1(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a fund-raising social event of a legislative
2campaign committee held during the period between the first day authorized for
3filing nomination papers for any special election to the senate or assembly and the
4date of the special election.
AJR17,2,115 (3) Subsection (1) does not apply to a fund-raising social event of a current
6member of the senate or assembly or his or her personal campaign committee held
7during the period between the first day authorized for filing nomination papers for
8any office for which a current member of the senate or assembly is a candidate and
9the date of the election for that office, if the event is held within the boundaries of
10the jurisdiction or district served by the office for which the current member of the
11senate or assembly is a candidate.
AJR17,2,1812 (4) Subsection (1) does not apply to a fund-raising social event of a current
13member of the senate or assembly or his or her personal campaign committee held
14during the period between the first day authorized for filing nomination papers for
15any office, other than senator, for which a current member of the senate is a
16candidate and the date of the election for that other office, or other than
17representative to the assembly, for which a current member of the assembly is a
18candidate and the date of the election for that other office.
