AJR45,1,2 1Relating to: proclaiming the month of May as "Community Action Month" in the
2state of Wisconsin.
AJR45,1,53 Whereas, there are 16 community action agencies in Wisconsin working and
4collaborating with local communities to alleviate the circumstances of poverty and
5helping people achieve self-sufficiency; and
AJR45,1,12 6Whereas, the community action agencies have, for 35 years, developed
7innovative pilot and major programming in the areas of affordable housing and
8homeownership, weatherization and rehabilitation of homes, employment and
9microenterprise business development, Head Start, food and nutrition,
10community-based economic development, transportation, training and on-site
11technical assistance to rural communities with water or wastewater problems,
12health, and education, and many other such helping programs; and
AJR45,1,14 13Whereas, community action agencies include low-income people in their policy
14development in full partnership with government and the private sector; and

1Whereas, the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association and its
2member agencies and volunteers celebrate their achievements and acknowledge the
3contributions of others during the month of May; and
AJR45,2,5 4Whereas, the Wisconsin legislature has established statutorily a definition of
5community action agencies and their mission; now, therefore, be it
AJR45,2,10 6Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
7Wisconsin legislature salute its community action agencies and the Wisconsin
8Community Action Program Association for their dedicated and effective service to
9the residents of Wisconsin and do hereby proclaim the month of May "Community
10Action Month" in the state of Wisconsin.
