AJR78,1,43 Whereas, Tommy G. Thompson was first elected to public office in 1966 as a
4member of the Wisconsin state assembly; and
AJR78,1,65 Whereas, Tommy G. Thompson was elected governor of the great state of
6Wisconsin in 1986; and
AJR78,1,87 Whereas, Tommy G. Thompson was the longest-serving governor in Wisconsin
8state history; and
AJR78,1,109 Whereas, Tommy G. Thompson created a cabinet-level Department of
10Corrections due to the rapidly increasing number of prisoners in Wisconsin; and
AJR78,1,1311 Whereas, Tommy G. Thompson distinctively proposed and championed the
12construction of the Supermax Correctional Institution (SMCI) located in Boscobel,
13Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature of
2the state of Wisconsin hereby renames the Supermax Correctional Institution the
3Tommy G. Thompson Supermax Correctional Institution; and, be it further
AJR78,2,6 4Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
5resolution to Tommy G. Thompson, to the secretary of corrections, and to the warden
6of the Tommy G. Thompson Supermax Correctional Institution.
