Assembly Rule 98: This rule is created to prohibit campaign contributions
between January 1 of each odd-numbered year and June 1 of the next
even-numbered year.

AR23, s. 1 5Section 1. Assembly rule 98 is created to read:
AR23,1,8 6Assembly Rule 98. Campaign contributions. (1) In this rule, "contribution,"
7"legislative campaign committee," and "personal campaign committee" have the
8meanings given for the terms in section 11.01 of the statutes.
AR23,2,59 (2) A legislative leader may not schedule, hold, or attend, or solicit, make, or
10receive a contribution for or at; or authorize a legislative campaign committee to
11schedule, hold, or attend, or solicit, make, or receive a contribution for or at; and a

1member may not schedule, hold, or attend, or solicit, make, or receive a contribution
2for or at; or authorize the member's personal campaign committee to schedule, hold,
3or attend, or solicit, make, or receive a contribution for or at; a fund-raising social
4event or otherwise between January 1 of each odd-numbered year and June 1 of the
5next even-numbered year.
AR23,2,96 (3) Subsection (2) does not apply to a fund-raising social event of a legislative
7campaign committee held during the period between the first day authorized for
8filing nomination papers for any special election to the assembly and the date of the
9special election.
AR23,2,1510 (4) Subsection (2) does not apply to a fund-raising social event of a current
11member of the assembly or his or her personal campaign committee held during the
12period between the first day authorized for filing nomination papers for any office for
13which a current member of the assembly is a candidate and the date of the election
14for that office, if the event is held within the boundaries of the jurisdiction or district
15served by the office for which the current member of the assembly is a candidate.
AR23,2,2016 (5) Subsection (2) does not apply to a fund-raising social event of a current
17member of the assembly or his or her personal campaign committee held during the
18period between the first day authorized for filing nomination papers for any office,
19other than representative to the assembly, for which a current member of the
20assembly is a candidate and the date of the election for that other office.
