AR47,1,63 Whereas, Ronald Wilson Reagan, born of humble background in the state of
4Illinois, worked throughout his life serving freedom and others, having been
5employed as an entertainer, union leader, corporate spokesman, governor of
6California, and President of the United States; and
AR47,1,117 Whereas, Ronald Reagan served with honor and distinction as the 40th
8President of the United States of America, having been elected to 2 terms of office,
9the 2nd of which he was victorious in 49 of the 50 states in the general election,
10earning the confidence of three-fifths of the electorate, a record unsurpassed in the
11history of American presidential elections; and
AR47,1,1512 Whereas, during Mr. Reagan's presidency, he worked in a bipartisan manner
13to enact his bold agenda of restoring accountability and common sense to
14government, which led to an unprecedented economic expansion and opportunity for
15millions of Americans; and

1Whereas, Mr. Reagan's commitment to an active social policy agenda for the
2nation's children helped lower crime and drug use in our neighborhoods; and
AR47,2,53 Whereas, President Reagan's commitment to our armed forces contributed to
4the restoration of pride in America, her values, and those cherished by the free world,
5enabling our armed forces to carry out their mission in the Gulf War; and
AR47,2,86 Whereas, President Reagan's vision of "peace through strength" led to the end
7of the Cold War and the ultimate demise of the Soviet Union, guaranteeing human
8rights for millions; and
AR47,2,119 Whereas, on February 6, 2002, Ronald Reagan will reach the seasoned age of
1091 years, thus becoming the oldest, and one of the longest serving, former U.S.
11Presidents in the history of our nation; now, therefore, be it
AR47,2,14 12Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
13congratulate President Ronald Reagan on his 91st birthday, and express their best
14wishes and deepest gratitude for his life of public service; and, be it further
AR47,2,16 15Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly hereby recognize
16February 2, 2002, as "Ronald Reagan Day"; and, be it further
AR47,2,18 17Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution
18to President Reagan.
