SB206,1,2 1An Act to amend 342.14 (1r) of the statutes; relating to: extending the sunset
2provision for vehicle environmental impact fees.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a registrant is required to pay an environmental impact fee
of $6 upon registering a new motor vehicle with the department of transportation or
upon applying for a new certificate of title following a transfer of a vehicle. The
environmental impact fees are credited to the environmental fund and are
earmarked for environmental management activities. The fee expires on June 30,
2001. This bill extends that expiration date to September 30, 2003.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB206, s. 1 3Section 1. 342.14 (1r) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB206,2,44 342.14 (1r) Upon filing an application under sub. (1) or (3) before December 1,
51999, an environmental impact fee of $5, by the person filing the application.
Upon
6filing an application under sub. (1) or (3) on or after December 1, 1999, an

1environmental impact fee of $6, by the person filing the application. All moneys
2collected under this subsection shall be credited to the environmental fund for
3environmental management. This subsection does not apply after June 30, 2001
4September 30, 2003.

SB206,2,66 (1) This act takes effect on July 1, 2001.
