SJR26,1,42 Whereas, child abuse is a problem affecting the entire community, and finding
3solutions to that problem depends on the involvement of people throughout the
4community; and
SJR26,1,65 Whereas, approximately 3,000,000 children are reported as having been
6abused or neglected in this country each year; and
SJR26,1,87 Whereas, the effects of child abuse are felt by whole communities, and the
8problem of child abuse needs to be addressed by the entire community; and
SJR26,1,119 Whereas, effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of
10partnerships created among social services agencies, schools, religious and civic
11organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the business community; and
SJR26,1,1512 Whereas, all citizens should become more aware of the negative effects of child
13abuse and of the means of preventing child abuse, and should become involved in
14supporting parents in raising their children in a safe, nurturing environment; now,
15therefore, be it

1Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
2legislature proclaims April as "Child Abuse Prevention Month" in the state of
3Wisconsin, and calls upon all citizens, community agencies, religious and civic
4organizations, medical facilities, and businesses to increase their participation in
5efforts to prevent child abuse, thereby strengthening the communities in which we
6live.
