2001 Senate JOINT RESOLUTION 29

SJR29,1,2 Relating to: requesting the congressional delegation from Wisconsin to urge Congress to pass President Bush's tax relief plan.

SJR29,1,4 Whereas, federal taxes are the highest that they have ever been during peacetime; and

SJR29,1,5 Whereas, all taxpayers should be allowed to keep more of their own money; and

SJR29,1,7 Whereas, the best way to encourage economic growth is to cut marginal tax rates across all tax brackets; and

SJR29,1,9 Whereas, under current tax law, low-income workers often pay the highest marginal rates; and

SJR29,1,11 Whereas, the American people have not received real tax relief in a generation; and

SJR29,1,13 Whereas, President Bush's tax relief plan will contribute to raising the standard of living for all Americans; and

SJR29,2,2 Whereas, President Bush's tax relief plan will increase access to the middle class for hard-working families, treat all middle-class families more fairly, encourage entrepreneurship and growth, and promote charitable giving and education; and

SJR29,2,4 Whereas, under President Bush's tax relief plan, the largest percentage reductions will go to the lowest-income earners; now, therefore, be it

SJR29,2,9 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of the state of Wisconsin requests the members of the congressional delegation from this state to urge Congress to support and work to pass the tax relief plan introduced by President Bush, which includes across-the-board reductions in marginal rates, elimination of the death tax, and reduction of the marriage penalty; and, be it further

SJR29,2,11 Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall send a copy of this joint resolution to each member of the congressional delegation from this state.
