2"Household Hazardous Waste Awareness Week."
SR7,1,53 Whereas, household hazardous waste is any material used in the home that is
4flammable, corrosive, toxic, or reactive and could cause harm to human health,
5animals, or the environment; and
SR7,1,86 Whereas, it is imperative that tools are developed to bring more information to
7the general public regarding safe handling, storage, and proper disposal of
8household hazardous waste; and
SR7,1,109 Whereas, people will consciously help to protect the environment if they are
10informed on how to properly and safely dispose of household hazardous waste; and
SR7,1,1211 Whereas, it is important to promote and preserve Wisconsin's natural beauty;
12and
SR7,1,1413 Whereas, people should be encouraged to participate in household hazardous
14waste programs through education and better understanding; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the senate, That members of the Wisconsin senate hereby
2recognize the week beginning with the first Monday in October each year as
3"Household Hazardous Waste Awareness Week" in Wisconsin; and, be it further
SR7,2,8 4Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall send a copy of this resolution to all
5newspapers, radio stations, and television stations in Wisconsin, requesting their
6assistance in publicizing "Household Hazardous Waste Awareness Week" in
7Wisconsin and informing the residents of this state of the importance of their
8participation in household hazardous waste programs.
