AB1080,1,2 1An Act to create 118.33 (1) (e) of the statutes; relating to: granting high school
2credit for extracurricular sports.

Current law requires a high school pupil to earn 1.5 credits in physical
education in order to be eligible for a high school diploma. This bill authorizes a
school board to adopt a policy granting a pupil credit in physical education for
completing a season in an extracurricular sport if the sport is sanctioned by the
Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and the pupil earns an additional 1.5
credits in English, social studies, mathematics, science, health education, vocational
education, foreign languages, or fine arts.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB1080, s. 1 3Section 1. 118.33 (1) (e) of the statutes is created to read:
AB1080,2,34 118.33 (1) (e) A school board may adopt a policy granting a pupil credit in
5physical education under par. (a) 1. for completing a season in an extracurricular
6sport if the sport is sanctioned by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association
7and the pupil earns an additional 1.5 credits in English, social studies, mathematics,

1science, health education, vocational education, foreign languages, or fine arts. If a
2school board adopts a policy under this paragraph, it shall provide the department
3with a copy.

AB1080,2,65 (1) This act first applies to high school diplomas granted on the effective date
6of this subsection.
