Whereas, Thomas M. Schaus was born on June 7, 1937, in Milwaukee,
3Wisconsin, and died on May 11, 2004; and

Whereas, he earned a BS degree from Marquette University in 1959 and an
5LLB degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1962; and

Whereas, Mr. Schaus served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves; and

Whereas, he practiced law in Milwaukee from 1962 to 2002; and

Whereas, Mr. Schaus was elected to the Wisconsin assembly in 1964, serving
9in the 1965 session; and

Whereas, during his tenure in the legislature, Mr. Schaus was a member of the
11Committee on Judiciary, the Committee on Municipalities, and the Legislative
12Council Judiciary Committee; now, therefore, be it

13Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
14Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Thomas M. Schaus
1contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and
2extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further

3Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
4resolution to Mr. Schaus's mother, Alice Schaus, and sister, Yvonne Schilling.
