relating to: immunity for actions of
2volunteers acting on behalf of a religious association or charitable organization.

This bill provides immunity from civil liability to charities and religious
associations for any injury or death that results from the act or omission of a person
who provides services without compensation to that charity or religious association.
The immunity applies when the volunteer is acting on behalf of the charity or
religious association.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1. 895.484 of the statutes is created to read:

4895.484 Civil liability exemption, volunteers of religious associations
5or charitable organizations. (1) In this section:

(a) "Charitable organization" means an organization the contributions to
7which are deductible by corporations in computing net income under s. 71.26 (2).

1(b) "Religious association" means any church, synagogue, or mosque or any
2religious society organized under ch. 187.

(c) "Volunteer" means an individual, other than an employee of a charitable
4organization or religious association, who provides services to or on behalf of the
5charitable organization or religious association without compensation.

6(2) A charitable organization or religious association is immune from civil
7liability for any injury or death resulting from the act or omission of a volunteer while
8acting on behalf of the charitable organization or religious association.

(1) This act first applies to acts or omissions occurring on the effective date of
