Whereas, Max McGee was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round
8of the 1954 National Football League Draft; and

10to serve as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, but returned to become the Packers' leading
11receiver from 1958 to1962; and

131964 NFL All Pro Team; and

13Chain of Mexican restaurants after retiring from football; and

Whereas, Max McGee founded the Maxi Fund after his son, Dallas, was
15diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of two; and

Whereas, Max McGee and wife, Denise, founded the Max McGee National
17Research Center for Juvenile Diabetes at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in
18Milwaukee in 1999; and

Whereas, Max McGee leaves behind a lasting legacy and will be remembered
20as a generous and approachable teammate, friend, husband, brother, father, and
21grandfather; now, therefore, be it

22Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
23Wisconsin legislature commend the many accomplishments that Max McGee
24contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and
25extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further

1Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
2resolution to Mr. McGee's wife, Denise, of Deephaven, Minnesota, originally of River
3Falls, Wisconsin; his four children, Marla, Mona, Maxwell and Dallas; and his
