Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty was a champion for human rights and a
3passionate woman who represented the near south side of Milwaukee for the 12th
4Aldermanic District; and

Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty was a Chicago-raised Irish Catholic who moved
6to Milwaukee in 1969 when she was recruited to work at the Inner City
7Redevelopment Project; and

Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty was involved in politics at the national and local
9levels and won two terms representing the 12th Aldermanic District in Milwaukee
10in 1984 and 1988; and

Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty, after deciding not to seek a third full term in
121992, became the director of the South Side Neighborhood Center; and

Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty spent her whole life being a tireless advocate for
14the poor and being a strong voice for voter and immigrant rights; and

1Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty fought wholeheartedly for the constituents of
2the near south side of Milwaukee long after her service as an alderwoman; and

Whereas, Mary Anne McNulty passed away on November 6, 2009, at age 61
4after battling cancer; now, therefore, be it

5Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
6Wisconsin legislature honor Mary Anne McNulty for her dedication and passion and
7for tirelessly advocating for the poor and immigrant communities in Milwaukee; and,
8be it further

9Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature express their
10heartfelt sorrow and deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of
11Mary Anne McNulty; and, be it further
