Whereas, Hall of Fame announcer Jim Irwin had an illustrious career,
3spanning over three decades in Wisconsin, and died on January 22, 2012; and

Whereas, Jim served as Newsradio 620 WTMJ's longtime play-by-play voice
5of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Wisconsin Badgers, ultimately
6becoming known as the "Voice of the Green Bay Packers"; and

Whereas, Jim began his career at WTMJ in 1969, with his first assignment as
8color commentator on 620 WTMJ's Packers Radio Network; and

Whereas, Jim earned Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year ten times, while being
10named to the Packers Hall of Fame and Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Hall of
11Fame; and

Whereas, Jim was well known for his "Viewpoint" segment on 620 WTMJ's
13"Wisconsin Morning News," and showcased his rich talent and versatility with a long
14television career; and

1Whereas, Jim will be most remembered for calling Packer games longer than
2any other announcer, and for lending voice to the Packers journey to the top of the
3NFL; now, therefore, be it

4Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
5Wisconsin legislature do commend the distinguished career and public service that
6Jim Irwin contributed to his community, express their sorrow at his death, and
7extend their condolences to his wife Gloria, his family, and his friends; and, be it
