Whereas, Joyce Bytof came to the Fox Valley in the late 1950s and became an
3invaluable leader in the community; and

4Whereas, Joyce worked for the
Times Mirror in 1953, now the
Los Angeles
5Times, where she worked in advertising, and she received her real estate license in
61964, and then attained the Council of Real Estate Brokerage designation; and

7Whereas, in 1975 Joyce joined Bytof Realtors, Inc., in Appleton, and in 1988 she
8became president and chief executive officer of Coldwell Banker The Real Estate
9Group, Inc., the company founded by her husband, Otto, which now employs more
10than 500 realtors across northeastern Wisconsin; and

11Whereas, Joyce served as the president of the Northeast Wisconsin Realtors
12Association in 1985–86, was appointed to the Wisconsin Realtors Association Board
13of Directors in 1983, serving as president from 1995–97, and was named to the
14National Realtors Association Board of Directors in 2003; and

1Whereas, Joyce received many honors for her outstanding contributions to the
2real estate industry, including the 1985 Wisconsin Realtor of the Year Award, the
31990 Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce Athena Business Woman of the Year Award,
4the 1997 Small Business Person of the Year Award, and the 2001 Volunteer Business
5of the Year Award; and

6Whereas, Joyce lead multiple committees and community projects in the Fox
7Valley Area, including, but not limited to, her company's nonprofit organization,
8TREG Foundation, Inc.; the YMCA of the Fox Cities Corporate Board; the United
9Way Board; the Community Foundation Board; the Goodwill Board; the Chamber of
10Commerce Board; the Big Brothers-Big Sisters Board; and Habitat for Humanity;
11and in 1993 she was elected the first woman chair of the Fox Cities Chamber of
12Commerce; and

13Whereas, Joyce was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and served on the
14Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of the Fox River Area, the President's Council of
15Junior Achievement, the Senior Advisory Board, the Make-A-Wish Board, and the
16Children's Hospital Board; and

17Whereas, Joyce served as a member of the University of Wisconsin Curriculum
18Council and president of the University of Wisconsin Foundation; and

19Whereas, Joyce was a tireless worker and an inspiration to the entire Fox Cities
20community and the state of Wisconsin for more than 50 years; now, therefore, be it

21Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
22Wisconsin legislature honor the exemplary life of Joyce A. Bytof for her outstanding
23service to our state and her many successes in business and in the community; and,
24be it further

1Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
2resolution to the husband and family of Joyce A. Bytof.
