Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women's basketball team
3defeated Loyola University Chicago 54-38 for the Horizon League tournament
4championship; and

Whereas, it is UW-Green Bay's third league tournament title in a row and the
6fifth straight year the team will compete in the NCAA tournament; and

Whereas, the UW-Green Bay Phoenix have won 24 consecutive games after
8finishing the year with a perfect 19-0 record against Horizon League teams and
9winning the regular-season title with a 16-0 record; and

Whereas, the Phoenix are known for their tough defensive play, having become
11the nation's second-ranked scoring defense by limiting opponents to just 48.1 points
12per game; and

Whereas, UW-Green Bay was recently named one of "11 Colleges with the
14Smartest Athletes" by TheBestColleges.org, and the women's basketball team led
1the way with an impressive 3.71 team GPA and 31 consecutive semesters in which
2the team achieved a 3.0 or higher; and

Whereas, senior Adrian Ritchie was named to the All-Horizon League First
4Team, senior Sarah Eichler was awarded Second Team honors, and both players
5were named also to the All-Defensive Team; and

Whereas, UW-Green Bay has now captured 12 Horizon League Championship
7titles and 13 conference tournament titles overall and will be appearing in the NCAA
8tournament for the 14th time; now, therefore, be it

9Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
10legislature hereby commends and congratulates the UW-Green Bay women's
11basketball team on another very successful regular season and wishes them the best
12of luck in the NCAA tournament; and

13Be it further resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this
14joint resolution to Head Coach Kevin Borseth, his staff, each member of the team,
15and Athletic Director Ken Bothof.
