SJR45,1,3 1Relating to: designating the Honor and Remember Flag as Wisconsin's emblem of
2service and sacrifice by those in the United States Armed Forces who have
3given their lives in the line of duty.
SJR45,1,64 Whereas, while war deaths have been a part of our heritage since the birth of
5this nation, the United States has not instituted an official symbol commemorating
6fallen servicepersons; and
SJR45,1,87 Whereas, the Honor and Remember Flag's red field represents the brave men
8and women who sacrificed their lives for freedom; and
SJR45,1,109 Whereas, the flag's blue star is a symbol of active service in military conflict that
10dates back to World War I; and
SJR45,1,1111 Whereas, the flag's white border recognizes the purity of sacrifice; and
SJR45,1,1312 Whereas, the flag's gold star signifies the ultimate sacrifice of a warrior in
13active service who is not returning home and reflects the value of the life given; and
SJR45,1,1514 Whereas, the folded flag element highlights this nation's final tribute to a fallen
15serviceperson and a family's sacrifice; and

1Whereas, the flag's flame symbolizes the eternal spirit of the departed; and
SJR45,2,52 Whereas, the Honor and Remember Flag is a unifying symbol recognizing this
3nation's solemn debt to the estimated 1,600,000 fallen servicepersons throughout
4United States history and the families and communities who mourn their loss; now,
5therefore, be it
SJR45,2,9 6Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature
7designates the Honor and Remember Flag as Wisconsin's emblem of service and
8sacrifice by the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have
9given their lives in the line of duty; and, be it further
SJR45,2,11 10Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be distributed to the Wisconsin
11secretary of veterans affairs and Wisconsin's congressional delegation.
