AB291,1,2 1An Act to amend 29.301 (2) of the statutes; relating to: the color of clothing
2required to be worn during the season for hunting deer with firearms.

Under current law, no person may hunt game, other than waterfowl, during the
season for hunting deer with firearms unless at least 50 percent of each article of the
person's outer clothing above the waist is of a highly visible color commonly referred
to as hunter orange, blaze orange, fluorescent orange, flame orange, or fluorescent
blaze orange. This bill provides that the highly visible color also may be the color
commonly referred to as bright pink or fluorescent pink.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB291,1 3Section 1. 29.301 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB291,2,74 29.301 (2) Color of clothing. In the areas in which there is a season for the
5hunting of deer with firearms, no person may hunt any game except waterfowl
6during that season unless at least 50% of each article of the person's outer clothing
7above the waist, including a cap, hat or other head covering, is of a highly visible color

1commonly referred to as hunter orange, blaze orange, fluorescent orange, flame
2orange or fluorescent blaze orange or commonly referred to as bright pink or
3fluorescent pink
. This requirement does not apply to persons hunting from 30
4minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise during a firearm deer hunting
5season if the person is hunting for other game that the department authorizes to be
6hunted during that firearm deer hunting season. Any person violating this
7subsection shall forfeit not more than $10.
