AB360,1,3 1An Act to create 301.51, 941.23 (2) (f), 941.235 (2) (b) and 941.237 (3) (bm) of the
2statutes; relating to: persons charged with locating persons who abscond from
3parole, probation, and extended supervision and going armed with a firearm.

This bill allows a probation, extended supervision, or parole agent whose
primary duty is to locate individuals who have absconded from probation, extended
supervision, or parole to go armed with a concealed firearm and to go armed in a
public building and on the premises of a tavern. This bill also requires the
Department of Corrections to provide the person with credentials and a badge and
requires the person to carry the credentials and badge while on duty.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB360,1 4Section 1. 301.51 of the statutes is created to read:
AB360,1,8 5301.51 Identification for persons who locate absconders. (1) In this
6section, "absconder agent" means a probation, extended supervision, or parole agent
7whose primary duty is to locate individuals who have absconded from probation,
8extended supervision, or parole.

1(2) The department shall issue credentials and a badge to each absconder
2agent, and an absconder agent shall carry them at all times while on duty. The
3department shall select the type of firearm an absconder agent may carry if the
4absconder agent carries a firearm. The department shall provide absconder agents
5with training regarding firearm safety and use and shall provide absconder agents
6with the ammunition needed to perform their duty.
