AJR62,1,32 Whereas, Flag Day is nationally celebrated annually on June 14th,
3commemorating the adoption of the flag of the United States; and
AJR62,1,54 Whereas, the flag of the United States is recognized as a symbol of our shared
5values as a nation, including liberty and justice for all; and
AJR62,1,76 Whereas, Bernard John Cigrand, a school teacher in Waubeka, Wisconsin, held
7the first recognized formal observance of Flag Day at the Stony Hill School; and
AJR62,1,108 Whereas, the city of Appleton in Outagamie County has held an annual
9National Flag Day parade since 1950, making it one of the largest and
10longest-running celebrations in the country; and
AJR62,1,1311 Whereas, Flag Day gives citizens of the United States an opportunity to
12rededicate themselves to the ideals of our nation's founding and to consider what the
13flag of the United States means to them; now, therefore, be it
