SB696,1,3 1An Act to create 36.11 (3) (e) and 38.12 (15) of the statutes; relating to:
2acceptance of credit for International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
3courses by University of Wisconsin System schools and technical colleges.

This bill requires University of Wisconsin System schools and technical colleges
to accept academic credits for completing International Baccalaureate Diploma
Programme (IB) courses if 1) the student completes the IB course with a score of four
or higher and requests that the course be accepted by the UW System school or
technical college for credit; and 2) the general subject matter of the IB course is
similar to a course offered by the UW System school or technical college. Credits
accepted must be applied to satisfy general education requirements at the UW
System school or technical college.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB696,1 4Section 1 . 36.11 (3) (e) of the statutes is created to read:

136.11 (3) (e) 1. The board shall ensure that all institutions and college
2campuses accept academic credits for completing International Baccalaureate
3Diploma Programme courses if all of the following apply:
SB696,2,64 a. The student completes the International Baccalaureate Diploma
5Programme course with a score of 4 or higher and requests that the course be
6accepted by the institution or college campus for academic credit.
SB696,2,87 b. The general subject matter of the International Baccalaureate Diploma
8Programme course is similar to a course offered by the institution or college campus.
SB696,2,119 2. The board shall ensure that academic credits accepted under this paragraph
10are applied to satisfy general education requirements at the receiving institution or
11college campus.
SB696,2 12Section 2 . 38.12 (15) of the statutes is created to read:
SB696,2,1513 38.12 (15) Credit for International Baccalaureate Programme courses. (a)
14Each district board shall accept academic credits for completing International

1(1) This act first applies to requests for credit for the academic year beginning
2after the effective date of this subsection.
