Dear Senator Robson:
I am writing to express my appreciation to you and the Senate Democrats on the respectful debate during the 2005-07 state budget deliberations. The change in the decorum of the Senate this session along with the courteous and professional etiquette by all members is no doubt a bipartisan effort to uphold the tradition of the Senate as the more reasoned and civil legislative house. I understand that several of the items in the state budget were contentious and the debate became very involving, but your members were always considerate and the debate never became mean spirited.
In my previous correspondence to you, I expressed my displeasure over the way the Senate was conducted in the previous session. I now feel that the respectful debate which the Senate had once been lacking has returned. I know that the contributions of you and your members were integral in achieving this much needed change in civility, and I sincerely thank you for all your efforts.
Sincerely,
ALAN J. LASEE
Senate President
