74.09 (3) (gb) of the statutes; relating to: including with the

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires that a person's property tax bill include information from the
school district where the property is located regarding the amount of any net
reduction in state aid to the district as a result of pupils enrolled in the statewide
choice program, the Racine choice program, or the Milwaukee choice program.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
74.09 (3) (gb) of the statutes is created to read:
(gb) Include information from the school district where the property 5
is located regarding the amount of any net reduction in state aid to the district in the 6
previous year and the current year and the percentage change between those years, 7
except that this paragraph does not apply in any year in which such a reduction does 8
not occur. For purposes of this paragraph, the school district shall compute the net 9
reduction in state aid as follows:
1. Determine the reduction under s. 118.60 (4d) to the school district's state aid 2
payment under s. 121.08 for the previous or current year.
2. Calculate any additional aid the school district receives under ss. 121.08, 4
121.09, 121.095, and 121.137 as the result of counting incoming pupils in the school 5
district's membership under s. 121.07 (2) (b) for the year in which the district 6
determined the reduction under subd. 1.
3. Subtract subd. 2. from subd. 1.
