EXECUTIVE ORDER #100
Relating to a Special Election for the Thirteenth Senate District
WHEREAS, State Senator Scott L. Fitzgerald was elected to the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin’s Fifth Congressional District on November 3, 2020, and intends to resign as Senator for the Thirteenth Senate District on January 1, 2021.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TONY EVERS, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, pursuant to article IV, section 14, of the Wisconsin Constitution and Section 8.50 (4)(e) of the Wisconsin Statutes, order that a special election be held on April 6, 2021, to fill the vacancy in the Thirteenth Senate District, as created by 2011 Act 43, and whose boundaries are set out in Section 4.009 (13) of the Wisconsin Statutes. A copy of the boundary descriptions may be obtained from the Elections Commission or the Legislative Reference Bureau. The term of office for the Thirteenth Senate District will expire on the first Monday in January, 2023. If a primary is necessary, it will be held on /February 16, 2021. Circulation of nomination papers for candidates may begin today, December 22, 2020 and nomination papers must be filed no later than 5:00:00 p.m. on January 8, 2021, in the office of the Elections Commission, 212 East Washington Avenue, Third Floor, Madison, Wisconsin. These elections shall be held, conducted, canvased, and returned in accordance with law.
