1An Act to amend
46.535 of the statutes; relating to: crisis intervention team
2grants and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill increases the amount of moneys that the Department of Health
Services is required to award in grants for mental health crisis intervention team
training for law enforcement agencies and correctional officers from $250,000 per
fiscal biennium to $1,000,000 per fiscal biennium. The bill also allows grant moneys
to be used for overtime costs.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
46.535 of the statutes is amended to read:
446.535 Crisis intervention training grants.
From the appropriation under 5
s. 20.435 (5) (cd), the department shall award grants in the total amount of $250,000 6$1,000,000
in each fiscal biennium for mental health crisis intervention team 7
training for law enforcement agencies, as described in s. 165.77 (1) (c), and
correctional officers, as defined in s. 102.475 (8) (a).
Grant moneys awarded under
2this section may be used for overtime costs.
(1) Crisis intervention team grants.
In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the 5
appropriation to the department of health services under s. 20.435 (5) (cd), the dollar 6
amount for fiscal year 2019-20 is increased by $375,000 for the purposes for which 7
the appropriation is made. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3) for the appropriation 8
to the department of health services under s. 20.435 (5) (cd), the dollar amount for 9
fiscal year 2020-21 is increased by $375,000 for the purposes for which the 10
appropriation is made.
