ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1, TO 1999 ASSEMBLY JOINT RESOLUTION 36

AJR36-AA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the joint resolution as follows:

AJR36-AA1,1,4 1. Page 1, line 12: delete "during the past month dairy prices have fallen sharply by" and substitute "actions of the U.S. Department of Agriculture have led to the dairy price drop of".

AJR36-AA1,1,5 2. Page 1, line 13: after that line insert:

AJR36-AA1,1,8 "Whereas, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has been unwilling to change its milk pricing system based on how far from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the farm is located; and

AJR36-AA1,1,10 Whereas, a lawsuit initiated in Minnesota had this current pricing system thrown out; and

AJR36-AA1,2,2 Whereas, the failure by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to implement a fair pricing policy for the upper Midwest, while at the same time allowing for the Northeast Dairy Compact, which allows the New England states to price their milk higher to the disadvantage of the upper Midwest, has hurt Wisconsin dairy farmers; and".
