SB1-SA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
SB1-SA1,1,3 21. Page 1, line 8: before "creating" insert "coverage of nontherapeutic
3abortions,".
SB1-SA1,1,4 42. Page 7, line 13: before that line insert:
SB1-SA1,1,9 5"(ag) "Abortion" means the use of an instrument, medicine, drug or other
6substance or device with intent to terminate the pregnancy of a woman known to be
7pregnant or for whom there is reason to believe that she may be pregnant and with
8intent other than to increase the probability of a live birth, to preserve the life or
9health of the infant after live birth or to remove a dead fetus.".
SB1-SA1,1,10 103. Page 8, line 14: after that line insert:
SB1-SA1,1,12 11"(g) "Nontherapeutic abortion" means an abortion that is not directly and
12medically necessary to prevent the death of the woman.".
SB1-SA1,1,13 134. Page 9, line 8: after that line insert:

1"(bm) The health care coverage plan may not provide coverage of a
2nontherapeutic abortion except by an optional rider or supplemental coverage
3provision that is offered and provided on an individual basis and for which an
4additional, separate premium or charge is paid by the individual to be covered under
5the rider or supplemental coverage provision. Only funds attributable to premiums
6or charges paid for coverage under the rider or supplemental coverage provision may
7be used for the payment of any claim, and related administrative expenses, that
8relates to a nontherapeutic abortion. Such funds may not be used for the payment
9of any claim or administrative expenses that relate to any other type of coverage
10provided by the insurer under the health care coverage plan. Nothing in this
11paragraph requires an insurer to offer or provide coverage of an abortion under the
12health care coverage plan.".
