The Honorable, The Legislature:
I am pleased to submit to the Legislature the enclosed report as required by Wisconsin Statute s.252.01(11) on the success of the Wisconsin Immunization program. The report describes the achievements of the statewide immunization program in 2008.
Overall, Wisconsin's immunization rate exceeds that of the U.S. as a whole, but we still have areas to improve and are committed to ensuring high immunization rates across Wisconsin's communities. The Department will also continue in its efforts to improve the health of Wisconsin's children by ensuring that they are safe from vaccine-preventable disease.
Sincerely,
karen e. Timberlake
Secretary
