Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Schultz, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Kaitlyn Maule. Kaitlyn (Kait) Maule, of Dodgeville, is a brave and tenacious young lady who will receive her high school diploma on March 7, which is several weeks earlier than her classmates. Receiving her high school diploma fulfills Kait's life dream. Kait has experienced a serious illness for most of her life. Kait's illness has led to being in and out of hospitals since she was a small child. Due to a change in Kaitlyn's health, it is in her best interest to graduate ahead of the original date in June. Kait attended public school for half days into her sophomore year when her health required she stay home, but she didn't give up. She completed her high school requirements as a student of a virtual school, the Insight School of Wisconsin. Kaitlyn's passion is learning. She was first in her class in public school and will rank fourth in her graduating class. In public school, Kaitlyn tested at a genius level IQ. Were she able, she would pursue a career in medicine, owing to her personal experiences with the profession. There is no doubt Kaitlyn Maule possesses the compassion, wisdom and other qualities that would have made her a superb healer. Tomorrow, March 7, 2012, Billy Beesley, the Principal of Insight School of Wisconsin, will proudly present Kaitlyn her high school diploma. He will be joined by Ronie Ruegsegger, her virtual school teacher, who the Kait and the Maule family have welcomed as a member of the family. Also witness to the ceremony, and beaming with pride; will be Kaitlyn's mom, Mary Jo, and grandparents Eldon and Lois Hird, aunts, uncles and past teachers who have supported Katie to achieve her dream of graduating. Senator Schultz is happy to share Kaitlyn's accomplishments and honor her remarkable journey to fulfill her life's goal to earn her High School Diploma.
