Relating to the Amendment of Executive Order #289
WHEREAS, the Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission on 21st Century Jobs ("Commission") was created on July 1, 1996 by Executive Order #289; and
WHEREAS, Executive Order #289 fixed the size of the Commission at twenty-five (25) members; and
WHEREAS, the need exists to expand the membership of the Commission beyond twenty-five (25);
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TOMMY G. THOMPSON, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of this State, and specifically by Section 14.019 of the Wisconsin Statutes, do hereby amend paragraph 2) of Executive Order#289 as follows:
2) Provide that the Commission shall consist of not more than thirty (30) members appointed by the Governor and that the Governor shall designate one member as chair.

Relating to a Proclamation that the Flag of the United States and the Flag of the State of Wisconsin be Flown Half-Staff as a Mark of Respect for the Late Corporal Richard G. Parquette of the Bayfield County Sheriff's Department
WHEREAS, on the morning of September 10, 1996, Corporal Richard G. Parquette was killed in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, Corporal Parquette served the people of Bayfield County and the people of Wisconsin with distinction and honor;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TOMMY G. THOMPSON, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, by the authority vested in me by Federal and State law, do hereby order that the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Wisconsin shall be flown at half-staff at all buildings, grounds and military installations of the State of Wisconsin equipped with such flags beginning forthwith until sundown on September 13, 1996.
