Section 49c. 153.60 (1) of the statutes, as affected by 1997 Wisconsin Act ....
21(this act), is repealed and recreated to read:

(1) The department shall, by the first October 1 after the
2commencement of each fiscal year, estimate the total amount of expenditures under
3this chapter for the department and the board for that fiscal year for data collection,
4data base development and maintenance, generation of data files and standard
5reports, orientation and training provided under s. 153.05 (9) and maintaining the
6board. The department shall assess the estimated total amount for that fiscal year
7that relates directly to hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers, less the estimated
8total amount to be received for purposes of administration of this chapter under s.
920.435 (1) (hi) during the fiscal year and the unencumbered balance of the amount
10received for purposes of administration of this chapter under s. 20.435 (1) (hi) from
11the prior fiscal year, to hospitals in proportion to each hospital's respective gross
12private-pay patient revenues during the hospital's most recently concluded entire
13fiscal year and to ambulatory surgery centers. Each hospital and ambulatory
14surgery center shall pay the assessment on or before December 1. All payments of
15assessments shall be deposited in the appropriation under s. 20.435 (1) (hg).".

(3) Pilot project for outpatient data collection. From the appropriation
22account under section 20.435 (1) (dg) of the statutes, as created by this act, the
23department of health and family services shall, as a pilot project, provide payment
24to collect outpatient health care data from health care providers, as defined in section
1153.01 (4t) of the statutes, as created by this act. No encumbrances or expenditures
2may be made under this subsection after June 30, 1999.".

5recreation of section 153.60 (1) of the statutes take effect on July 1, 1999.".
