Senator Jauch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Virginia Leopold, a teacher at Cathedral School in Superior. Virginia Leopold has been an educator since 1979 when she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. She has taught at Cathedral school in Superior since 1983 and at one time or another, has taught all eight graders. Last month, Virginia was named 1997 Teacher of the Year by the Wal-Mart Corporation for excellence in teaching. She is one of 1,850 teachers around the country who was selected to receive the award. In appreciation of her dedication, Wal-Mart gave her a certificate of recognition and a $500 grant to Cathedral School in her name.
