1An Act to amend 29.235 (2), 29.235 (2m), 29.241, 29.597 (5) (a) and 29.597 (6)
2(b) (intro.); and
to create 29.242, 29.563 (6) (am) and 29.597 (6) (c) of the
3statutes;
relating to: nonresident trapping licenses.

Under current law, the department of natural resources (DNR) may issue a
trapping license only to a resident who has successfully completed a course of
instruction under the trapper education program administered by DNR or is exempt
from this requirement for various reasons, including successful completion of a
comparable trapper education course in another state. The resident trapping license
authorizes the use of traps for trapping fur-bearing animals. The fee for the resident
trapping license is $17.25.
This bill creates a nonresident trapping license. DNR may issue a nonresident
trapping license only to a nonresident who has successfully completed a course of
instruction under the trapper education program administered by DNR or a
comparable trapper education course in another state. The authorization for a
nonresident trapping license is the same as that for a resident trapping license.
However, the fee for a nonresident trapping license is $150.
