Whereas, Cliff Miller has been a Capitol correspondent for the

Whereas, his roots in the Fox Valley date back to 1957, when he graduated from

Whereas, Cliff attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison and graduated
7with a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1962; and

Twin Cities News-Record in April 1966,

Whereas, from 1969 to 1973 Cliff began to cover the City of Appleton
11government beat for the
Post-Crescent; and

Whereas, one of the highlights of his career was being awarded an American
13Political Science Association fellowship in 1973-74 to work and study inside
14Congress, obtaining assignments to the staffs of former Vice President and Senator
15Hubert H. Humphrey and former U.S. Representative Morris K. Udall; and

1Whereas, during his time at the State Capitol, Cliff Miller has covered 14
2legislative sessions, 6 governors, and 57 Fox Valley senators and representatives,
3along with numerous assembly speakers, senate presidents, majority leaders,
4minority leaders, and other legislators; and

Whereas, he has informed the readers of the
Post-Crescent by writing hundreds
6of columns and thousands of news articles on budgets, bills, legislators, and the
7events in the State Capitol; and

Whereas, despite the sometimes adversarial relationship between the
9government and the press, Cliff's warmth and good humor have always been evident
10to those in and around the State Capitol; and

15Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
16Wisconsin legislature salute Cliff Miller on his retirement from the
Appleton
17Post-Crescent; and, be it further

18Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall present a copy of this joint
19resolution to Cliff Miller, along with the good wishes of the legislature for a long,
20healthy, and active retirement.
