SJR9,1,1 1Relating to: proclaiming April 19 as Patriot's Day.
SJR9,1,42 Whereas, April 19 marks the date in 1775 when the towns of Lexington and
3Concord were marched upon by British regulars in an effort to confiscate local
4militias' munitions; and
SJR9,1,65 Whereas, the result was the "shot heard around the world" and the rout of the
6redcoats; and
SJR9,1,87 Whereas, the states of Massachusetts and Maine observe April 19 as Patriot's
8Day each year; and
SJR9,1,119 Whereas, unlike the celebration of July 4th, Patriot's Day serves to remind
10citizen's of our revolution and the sacrifices endured during that 8-year struggle;
11now, therefore, be it
SJR9,2,2 12Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
13the state of Wisconsin proclaims April 19 of every year as Patriot's Day in the state

1of Wisconsin in commemoration of the opening events of the War of the Revolution
2and the struggle through which the nation passed in its early days.
