Senator Jauch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn today it do so in honor of the Town of Marengo and the Town of Lincoln in Ashland and Bayfield counties. In 1943, the U.S. War Department presented the family with a unique medal, honoring the fact that eight brothers from the family had served simultaneously in the same military branch (U.S. Army), a national record. Two of the brothers served at Normandy, and all eight returned home from the war safely. The family was further honored on this veterans' day, November 11, 2003, the 60th anniversary of the original ceremony, and here as well on the floor of the State Senate. The Verville family brothers were: Charles, Walter, Lenard, Morris, Stanley, Howard, Raymond and George.
Senators Brown and Stepp, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Ron Chiapete, who served the city of Racine as firefighter for 28 years, serving from 1966-1994. Seventeen of these years he served as Fire Chief, leading the department with great vision, courage, honor and respect. Ron Chiapete passed away earlier this year and is deeply missed by his family, friends and community. Ron's dedication to public safety and the welfare of those he pledged to serve and protect made him a great fire chief and an outstanding individual. It is my honor to pay tribute to my friend, Ron Chiapete, and his hard work, kindness, and courage.

The Marine Corps was formed on November 10, 1775 by a resolution of the Continental Congress and has served our nation with courage and distinction ever since.

Sarah, a 20-year old college student, died tragically of an unknown heart condition over the weekend. She was a third year elementary education honor student at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and had a very promising future ahead of her.

Marianne has been a dedicated public servant and is leaving the legislature to pursue a new in the private sector.
