Whereas, Matt Kenseth, a native of Cambridge, Wisconsin, was introduced to
4racing when he was just 13 years old, when his dad made him a deal that, if he bought
5a racecar and drove it, Matt would have to help work on it, then after turning 16 Matt
6would get behind the wheel; and

Whereas, by the time Matt was 19 he had moved up to the ultra-competitive
8Wisconsin late model ranks, where he became the youngest winner ever in ARTGO
9Challenge Series history; and shortly after that accomplishment Matt won track
10titles at the Madison International Speedway and Wisconsin International Raceway
11in Kaukauna, and also became the youngest driver to ever win the prestigious Miller
12Genuine Draft National Championships; and

Whereas, the year 2000 was one of great success for Matt Kenseth as he raced
14in the Winston Cup Series and earned the prestigious Raybestos Rookie of the Year
15title; and in 2002, Matt's 3rd year in the Winston Cup, he earned 5 wins at a variety
1of tracks throughout the year and his pit crew won the World Pit Crew Competition
2for the 2nd straight year; and

Whereas, this year, 2003, proved to be the most successful as Matt Kenseth won
4the NASCAR Winston Cup Championship; now, therefore, be it

5Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
6Wisconsin legislature recognize Matt Kenseth for his outstanding accomplishment
7of winning the NASCAR Winston Cup Championship; and, be it further

8Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit copies of this joint
9resolution to Matt, to each member of his crew, and to his parents, Roy and Nicki
10Kenseth, with the message that they have made all Wisconsinites proud.
