Whereas, Specialist Bert Hoyer was born on October 28, 1980, and was killed
3in the line of duty on March 10, 2004, near Ba' Qubah, Iraq; and

Whereas, Specialist Hoyer served with distinction and honor as a member of
5the 652nd Engineer Company from Ellsworth, Wisconsin; and

Whereas, Specialist Hoyer went to Iraq as a Private First Class and was
7promoted to Specialist during his service; and

Whereas, Specialist Hoyer was a loving and devoted son to Larry and Peggy
9Hoyer; and

Whereas, Specialist Hoyer earned the Army Service Metal for basic service and
11AIT training, and the Army Reserve Component Achievement Metal; and

Whereas, Specialist Hoyer lived for a brief time in Ely, Minnesota, before
13returning to Ellsworth, where he graduated from Ellsworth High School; and

Whereas, Specialist Hoyer will always be remembered for his bravery, courage,
15and love of family and friends; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
2Wisconsin legislature hereby commend the life and service of Specialist Bert Hoyer,
3express their sorrow in his death, and extend their condolences to his family and
4friends; and, be it further

5Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
6resolution to Specialist Hoyer's parents, Larry and Peggy Hoyer, of Ellsworth,
