ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 2, TO 2005 ASSEMBLY BILL 1188

AB1188-AA2,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB1188-AA2,1,3 1. Page 1, line 2: after "absence" insert "and provision of benefits to legislators and other state elected officials who become candidates for state elected offices".

AB1188-AA2,1,4 2. Page 1, line 3: before that line insert:

AB1188-AA2,1,5 " Section 1e. 20.923 (2m) of the statutes is created to read:

AB1188-AA2,1,10 20.923 (2m) Suspension of benefits. Notwithstanding ss. 13.123 (1), 13.45 (3) (a), 40.02 (17), and 40.05 (4) (a) 3., if a legislator or other state elected official becomes a candidate for any state elected office that he or she does not currently hold, the legislator or other state elected official may not receive during the period of his or her candidacy any of the following:

AB1188-AA2,1,11 (a) Health insurance coverage under subch. IV of ch. 40.

AB1188-AA2,1,12 (b) Creditable service under the Wisconsin Retirement System.

AB1188-AA2,1,13 (c) Payment of any allowance for, or reimbursement of, legislative expenses.

AB1188-AA2,2,1 (d) Use of any staff assigned to his or her office.".

AB1188-AA2,2,2 3. Page 1, line 3: delete " Section 1" and substitute "Section 1m".
