Tax preparation storefronts are springing up in poor neighborhoods throughout the state, and RALs have become a significant source of revenue for professional tax preparers at the expense of poor families and local economies. Efforts to stem the proliferation of RALs will benefit thousands of low-income workers and the state economy.
