SENATE AMENDMENT 1, TO 2007 SENATE BILL 299

SB299-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB299-SA1,1,3 1. Page 1, line 1: after "credit" insert ", providing categorical aid to any school district that is completely surrounded by water, and making an appropriation".

SB299-SA1,1,4 2. Page 1, line 2: before that line insert:

SB299-SA1,1,5 " Section 1. 20.255 (2) (ad) of the statutes is amended to read:

SB299-SA1,1,7 20.255 (2) (ad) Supplemental aid. The amounts in the schedule for aid to school districts under s. 115.435 121.107.

SB299-SA1, s. 2 Section 2. 115.435 (title) of the statutes is renumbered 121.107 (title).

SB299-SA1, s. 3 Section 3. 115.435 (1) of the statutes is renumbered 121.107 (1) (a).

SB299-SA1, s. 4 Section 4. 115.435 (2) of the statutes is renumbered 121.107 (1) (b) and amended to read:

SB299-SA1,2,2 121.107 (1) (b) No later than June 30 of the current school year, the department shall, from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad), pay each school district that satisfies the criteria under sub. (1) par. (a) $350 for each pupil enrolled in the school district in the previous school year.

SB299-SA1,2,5 (2r) If the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad) is insufficient to pay the full amount under this subsection section, the funds shall be prorated among the entitled school districts.

SB299-SA1, s. 5 Section 5. 115.435 (3) of the statutes is renumbered 121.107 (3).

SB299-SA1, s. 6 Section 6. 121.107 (2g) of the statutes is created to read:

SB299-SA1,2,10 121.107 (2g) Beginning in the 2007-08 school year, annually the department shall pay $180,000 to any school district that is completely surrounded by water. Payments shall be made from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad).".

SB299-SA1,2,11 3. Page 1, line 2: substitute "7" for "1".

SB299-SA1,2,12 4. Page 2, line 21: after that line insert:

SB299-SA1,2,13 " Section 8. Appropriation changes; public instruction.

SB299-SA1,2,18 (1) In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of public instruction under section 20.255 (2) (ad) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 2007, the dollar amount is increased by $155,000 for fiscal year 2007-08 and by $155,000 for fiscal year 2008-09 to increase funding for the purposes for which the appropriation is made.".
