Senator Schultz, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Darren R. McCarthy, a member of Troop 81 of Richland Center since 2001, who has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the most honored rank of the Boy Scouts of America.
Senator Wirch, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Tony Casalena and wishing him a speedy recovery from a major operation.
Senator Vinehout, with unanimous consent, asked that when the Senate adjourn, it do so in honor of Senator Robson and her staff. As a new member of the Senate, I found Senator Robson's door always open even when we disagreed. She encouraged leadership among all members and governed with a style that built consensus; kept us informed; encouraged initiative and rewarded hard work. Despite what ever members feel about Healthy Wisconsin, the bill would not exist if it was not for the work of our Majority Leader. She put the right people in positions of leadership, encouraged the Senate Health Committee when we were muddled or bogged down in details; she gave us deadlines and, in the end, made the decision to move forward, place the issue in the budget and initiated the greatest debate Wisconsin has seen on health care reform. For the people that call me every day asking me to solve the problems of health care, I thank her. Senator Robson, Mr. President, negotiated a very difficult budget keeping in mind that every decision affected the lives of people in the state of Wisconsin. Senator Robson has blazed a way for women from across the state. She is today a strong leader, not only with her colleagues in the Senate but for women and men in our entire State. Please join me in thanking her and her staff for their service to the state.
