Whereas, Milwaukee Lutheran High School's class of 2009 graduated on
4Saturday, May 30; and

Whereas, the aforementioned class includes three graduates who have been
6accepted to the service academies for the education and training of commissioned
7officers of the United States military, to wit, Nikko Ruud, accepted to the U.S. Air
8Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jonathan Kappel, accepted to the
9U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland; and Richard J. Wycklendt III,
10accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York; and

Whereas, these academies are highly selective institutions, generally requiring
12applicants to be nominated by a senator, congressperson, or the vice president of the
13United States, accepting only a small fraction of those who apply, and requiring
14successful applicants to demonstrate academic achievement, physical fitness, and
15good moral character; and

1Whereas, the presence of two future cadets and one future midshipman in one
2graduating class is very rare and honors both the accepted students and Milwaukee
3Lutheran High School; and

Whereas, three current members of the Wisconsin state assembly are
5graduates of Milwaukee Lutheran High School, to wit, Representative Frederick P.
6Kessler, Class of 1957, Representative Donald Pridemore, Class of 1964, and
7Representative Jason Fields, Class of 1992; now, therefore, be it

8Resolved by the assembly, That the assembly offers its congratulations to
9Nikko Ruud, Jonathan Kappel, Richard J. Wycklendt III, and Milwaukee Lutheran
10High School for their remarkable accomplishments.
