EXECUTIVE ORDER #159
Relating to a Special Election for the Thirty-Third Senate District
WHEREAS, on April 7, 2015 the Honorable Paul farrow was elected to the office of Waukesha County Executive; and
WHEREAS, the Honorable Paul Farrow currently serves as State Senator for Wisconsin’s Thirty-Third Senate District, the term of which office does not expire until the first Monday in January, 2015; and
WHEREAS, on May 1, 2015, the Honorable Paul Farrow submitted to the Office of the Governor a written resignation as State Senator for the Thirty-Third Senate District, effective July 17, 2015; and
WHEREAS, this resignation will create a vacancy in the office of State Senator for the Thirty-Third Senate District as of July 17, 2015;
NOW THEREFORE, I SCOTT WALKER, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, pursuant to article IV, section 14 of the Wisconsin Constitution and section 8.50 of the Wisconsin Statutes, order that a special election be held Tuesday, July 21, 2015, to fill the vacancy in the Thirty-Third Senate District, the boundaries of which are set out in section 4.009 of the Wisconsin Statutes, as created by 2011 Act 43. A copy of the boundary descriptions may be obtained from the Government Accountability Board or the Legislative Reference Bureau. The term of office for the Thirty-Third Senate District will expire on the first Monday in January, 2019. If a primary is necessary, it will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Circulation of nomination papers for candidates may begin today, May 5, 2015, and nomination papers must be filed no later than 5:00p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, in the office of the Government Accountability Board, 212 East Washington Avenue, Third Floor, Madison, Wisconsin. This election shall be held, conducted, canvassed, and returned in accordance with law.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Wisconsin to be affixed. Done at the Capitol in the city of Madison this fifth day of May in the year two thousand fifteen.
