Senator Hansen, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his wife, Jane, as she celebrates her birthday on April 6. She is not only the love of his life but also the best political wife ever.
Senator Larson, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his friend, Kashoua Yang, who won her election for circuit court yesterday making her the second Hmong American in the country to win a judicial seat. She is also a former refugee who came here with her family when she was a young child and only spoke one word of English.
Senator Wanggaard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his darling wife Mary Jo, and his darling daughter, Kathleen on the anniversaries of their birthdays this week.
Senator Wanggaard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his staffer, Colleen Moran, who is having a baby this month. Senator Wanggaard hopes everything goes well, and he looks forward to meeting her new son and the newest member of the Wanggaard “family.”
Senator Testin, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH), Boys Basketball Team, who won their third consecutive State Basketball Championship.
Senator Bewley, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of longtime Ashland County Resident Howard “Bud” Peters, who passed away at the age of 87 on February 21st. Born in Superior in 1929, Bud spent his childhood on the shores of Meder Lake in the Town of Morse. He was the mayor of the town of Mellen for 10 years and for the last 14 years of his life, he served as the chairman of the Town of Morse. On top of his civic duties, Bud was a man of many talents: he logged, he could weld, repaired too many vehicle engines to be counted, and developed his very own four-wheeler. He was a true friend of Ashland County and the Apostle Islands National Lake Shore, where he retained a life estate on Sand Island. That estate is now placed on the National Register of Historic Places, which is received in 2015.
Senator Bewley, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of our friends and neighbors who work for the National Forest Service in our state’s Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. They have contributed greatly to Wisconsin’s vital timber industry, nearly doubling the output of the timber program in 2016. Wisconsin is home to the first national and state Good Neighbor Authority Forest Agreement between our DNR and the Forest Service, adding an additional 25 million board feet of production. As a result of these combined efforts, the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest became the number one timber-producing national forest in the entire country in 2016. The men and women who keep our forests viable for business as well as recreation are great neighbors in the North.
Senator Miller, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Russ Whitesel, who served 30 years on the Wisconsin Legislative Council, retiring as a Senior Staff Attorney.

Their dedication and hard work on and off the ice paid off. What an incredible season.
