AB787,1,2 1An Act to create 20.437 (1) (bg) of the statutes; relating to: funding for grants
2to support foster parents and foster children and making an appropriation.

This bill provides $400,000 in funding to the Department of Children and
Families for grant to counties, tribes, and nonprofits to support foster parents and
provide normalcy for children in out-of-home care.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

4Wisconsin Act .... (this act), section 3 .
AB787,3 5Section 3 . Nonstatutory provisions.
AB787,2,146 (1) Grants to support foster parents and children. The department of
7children and families shall distribute not more than $400,000 in fiscal year 2018-19
8in grants to counties, nonprofit organizations, or tribes for the purpose of supporting
9foster parents and providing normalcy for children in out-of-home care. Qualifying
10expenses may include incentives for the retention of foster parents, enhancing foster
11parent education, and reimbursing foster parents for foster care related expenses.
12The department shall conduct an evaluation of the effectiveness of the grant program
13in achieving its stated goals and, by June 30, 2021, shall submit a report on that
14evaluation to the appropriate standing committees under section 13.172 (3).
