AR21,1,32 Whereas, John Klenke was born to Donald and Carol Klenke on April 25, 1958,
3in Green Bay, Wisconsin; and
AR21,1,74 Whereas, John Klenke graduated from Southwest High School in 1976, from
5the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor's degree in accounting and
6finance in 1980, and from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a master's
7degree in business administration in 1982; and
AR21,1,108 Whereas, John Klenke began his career at Arthur Andersen before working for
9over 20 years at Schneider National, where he served as treasurer, vice president of
10corporate strategy, division president, and director of corporate tax; and
AR21,1,1311 Whereas, John Klenke was elected to represent the 88th Assembly District in
12November 2010 and went on to serve in the Wisconsin State Assembly for two
13consecutive terms; and

1Whereas, during his time in the assembly, John Klenke served on the powerful
2Joint Committee on Finance and as Vice Chair of the Assembly Committee on Energy
3and Utilities; and
AR21,2,54 Whereas, while serving in the legislature, John Klenke authored and advocated
5for various bills concerning energy policy and economic development; and
AR21,2,76 Whereas, John Klenke married Charlotte Klenke, his wife of 23 years, at Holy
7Cross Catholic Church on February 26, 2000; and
AR21,2,98 Whereas, John Klenke was a loving father and grandfather to his six children
9and 15 grandchildren; and
AR21,2,1110 Whereas, John Klenke retired to Lake Martin in Dadeville, Alabama, where he
11enjoyed spending time on the lake with his family; and
AR21,2,1312 Whereas, John Klenke passed away peacefully on October 10, 2023, at the age
13of 65; and
AR21,2,1614 Whereas, John Klenke will be best remembered for his love and devotion to his
15Catholic faith and to his family, as well as for his accomplished career in both the
16private sector and the Assembly; now, therefore, be it
AR21,2,19 17Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin State
18Assembly join in honoring the life and public service of Representative John L.
19Klenke and extend their condolences to his family and friends.
