The Department is seeking federal funding pursuant to Section 2105(a)(1)(D)(ii) of the Social Security Act for the development and implementation of a lead abatement program through the use of a Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) health services initiative. Federal assistance is necessary to minimize and further prevent the long-term adverse health effects associated with lead exposure. Under this program the Department will provide coordinated and targeted lead abatement services to eligible properties in impacted areas of the city of Milwaukee and other areas within the state of Wisconsin to mitigate all lead hazards.

The change will be effective July 1, 2018, and is projected to result in Increased annual expenditures of $14,472,100 all funds (AF), composed of $13,717,600 federal match (FED) and $754,500 state funds/general purpose revenue (GPR).
