On January 20, 2021, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction submitted a proposed rule to the Wisconsin Legislative Council Rules Clearinghouse.

The scope statement for this rule, SS 153-20, was published in Register No. 780A2, on December 12, 2020, and approved by State Superintendent Carolyn Stanford Taylor on January 11, 2021.

The proposed rule amends ch. PI 19, 34, and 40, relating to biennial cleanup of DPI administrative rules.

The rules are being adopted under s. 227.16 (2) (b), Stats., which provides that rulemaking does not need to be preceded by notice and public hearing if the proposed rule brings an existing rule into conformity with a statute that has been changed.
